🐾 Meet the Trainer Behind All Dogs Training Academy in Welland, Ontario

the owner of all dogs

Tucked into the heart of Welland at All Dogs Training Academy, you’ll find more than just a dog training facility—you’ll find a space built around understanding the whole dog. From behaviour and training to nutrition, enrichment, and education, owner Mandi has created something that goes far beyond the traditional idea of dog training.

Her journey with animals started young, rooted in a deep love for dogs. But interestingly, her passion for training itself didn’t begin with dogs—it began with birds. As a teenager working with her first cockatiel, she discovered just how powerful and fascinating training could be. That curiosity eventually evolved into working with dogs, mentoring under other trainers, and even gaining insight from observing animal training at the Toronto Zoo—an experience that helped shape the philosophy she follows today.

With over 25 years of experience, Mandi has built a reputation in the Niagara region not just as a trainer, but as an educator. She is a Canine First Aid & CPR instructor, a Trick Dog Instructor, and a Canine Conditioning Coach—bringing a well-rounded, deeply informed perspective to every dog and owner she works with. Over the years, she has also trained many highly successful service dogs to work at an elite level, where trust, precision, and communication are essential.

🐕 A Different Approach to Dog Training

What sets Mandi apart is her refusal to follow a one-size-fits-all approach. At All Dogs Training Academy, there is no “cookie cutter” method. Every dog, and every owner, is treated as an individual.

Her philosophy centres around understanding why a behaviour is happening, not just how to change it. It’s a relationship-based approach that prioritizes trust, communication, and the unique needs of each dog. That foundation is especially important in her work with service dogs, where the bond between dog and handler must be exceptionally strong.

Mandy is also passionate about educating owners. Rather than simply showing clients what to do, she takes the time to explain why—because lasting results come from understanding, not memorization.

🎓 Programs, Classes & Opportunities

All Dogs Training Academy offers a wide range of programs designed to support dogs at every stage of life and ability. From foundational training to advanced skill development, the focus is always on building confident, well-rounded dogs.

Some of the programs offered include:

  • All levels of obedience

  • CKC Rally

  • Scent work

  • Sports and movement classes

  • Puppy boot camp

  • And more

The academy also continues to grow and evolve, regularly bringing in new learning opportunities for both dogs and their owners. From April 7–9, 2026, All Dogs Training Academy will be hosting Sherri Hall, founder of Ontario Search and Recovery Canines, for an introduction to the discipline of search and recovery—a unique and engaging opportunity for those looking to explore working roles with their dogs.

🐕‍🦺 Looking at the Whole Dog: Behaviour, Nutrition & Lifestyle

One of the most unique aspects of All Dogs Training Academy is its integration of training with nutrition and overall wellness. Mandi strongly believes that behaviour and diet go hand in hand, and that what we feed our dogs has a direct impact on how they feel, think, and respond.

This belief is what led her to offer raw food, natural supplements, and carefully selected products within her retail space. While raw feeding may not be the right fit for every owner, Mandi emphasizes the importance of understanding ingredients, asking questions, and making informed choices.

Her approach is simple: support the dog as a whole.

That includes gut health, physical exercise, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being—because when those pieces are in balance, training becomes clearer, easier, and more effective.

🧠 Why Enrichment Matters More Than You Think

A common misconception among dog owners is that physical exercise alone is enough. But as Mandi explains, you can run a dog for kilometres and still come home to chaos if their mental needs aren’t being met.

Enrichment—anything that engages a dog’s mind—is just as important as physical activity. From sniff walks and food puzzles to structured training sessions, these activities give dogs an outlet for their natural instincts.

Without that balance, dogs can become overstimulated or frustrated—not because they’re “bad,” but because their needs aren’t being fully met.

🛍️ A Thoughtfully Curated Retail Space

The retail side of All Dogs Training Academy was born out of necessity during COVID, but it quickly became an essential part of the business. Clients were constantly asking what to feed, what to use, and what Mandi recommended—so she created a space where they could find those answers.

Every product is chosen with intention. If it’s not something Mandi would use for her own dogs, it doesn’t make it onto the shelves. From raw food and natural chews to supplements and enrichment tools, the focus is always on quality, education, and supporting Canadian brands whenever possible.

It’s this level of knowledge and care that truly sets her apart from big box pet stores.

❤️ More Than Training—It’s About Connection

When asked what she loves most about her work, Mandi doesn’t hesitate: it’s the wins.

It’s the overwhelmed owner who walks in feeling defeated and leaves feeling hopeful. It’s the moments when things finally click—when communication improves and dogs and their people begin to truly understand each other.

For Mandi, training isn’t about control—it’s about connection.

A strong bond between dog and owner makes everything easier. When a dog trusts their person and feels understood, training becomes less about correction and more about cooperation.

🐾 One Piece of Advice for Every Dog Owner

If there’s one thing Mandi wishes every dog owner would do, it’s this:

Do your research.

Before choosing a breed, before bringing a puppy home, before selecting a trainer or even a vet—take the time to learn, ask questions, and build a plan.

Because when you understand the dog in front of you, everything else starts to fall into place.
